KPV

ALSO KNOWN AS · Lysine-proline-valine · α-MSH (11-13)

The C-terminal tripeptide of alpha-MSH, studied for anti-inflammatory activity in colitis and skin inflammation models without the pigmentation effects of the parent hormone.

Mechanism

KPV appears to act intracellularly to inhibit NF-κB signalling, reducing pro-inflammatory cytokine output in intestinal epithelial and immune cells.

Status

Evidence is preclinical. There are no controlled human trials and no approved product.
