Thymosin alpha-1

A 28-amino-acid thymic peptide approved in more than 30 countries for chronic hepatitis B and C and used as an immune adjuvant in sepsis and cancer care. Among the best-evidenced immune peptides, though not FDA-approved in the United States.
Mechanism
Tα1 acts through Toll-like receptor signalling on dendritic cells and T cells, promoting T-cell maturation, Th1 responses and improved antigen presentation.
Clinical evidence
Randomised work supports benefit in hepatitis B when combined with antivirals, and trials in severe sepsis have reported mortality signals that remain debated.
