Semax
ALSO KNOWN AS · ACTH (4-10) analogue
A heptapeptide analogue of an ACTH fragment, registered in Russia for stroke and cognitive indications. It raises BDNF expression in animal models; Western regulatory approval and independent trials are absent.
Mechanism
Semax lacks the hormonal activity of ACTH but retains neurotropic effects, increasing BDNF and NGF expression in the hippocampus and modulating dopaminergic and serotonergic tone in rodents.
